Commissioning Process and Conditions:

On a commission basis, it is common practice for an artist to prepare a color sketch of an idea for a commissioned work and then have the client either approve the sketch or suggest changes. Often times, it is sufficient to choose from photos that I have taken, which include color and composition, or - suggest a variation of of one of my existing paintings.

If photographs are sufficient, then we can proceed without having to create sketches, which do take more time. If subjects are added to photographs and the compositions are changed, I usually propose to make a rough color sketch in scale with the size of the final work. Though the sketch would not be as detailed or refined as the final artwork, it would be clear enough to indicate the overall composition.

Because I wish for you to be satisfied with the artwork you commission, I will be happy to discuss changes in the final photo selected or color sketch, and if necessary, will create revisions. If, after reviewing these various photos or sketches, you are not completely satisfied, you can cancel the project without any obligation. On the other hand, if you approve a final image or color sketch and want me to proceed, then to begin working I request a nonrefundable deposit of 50%, and then the balance due upon delivery.

Framing and shipping are not included.

I do use wonderful framers in Costa Mesa who will work with us in choosing the right frame for your painting as well arrange shipping.

I look forward to creating a painting for you!
